SmARTsy Girls Got STEAM Power!
A new 1-week program for girls, ages 10-13, focusing on arts integrated with science, technology, engineering, and math - combined with leadership and empowerment development for young women.
Course Description: This program takes place over 6 days, every day after school from 3:30-5:00pm, concluding with a group activity on Friday evening & Saturday off-site. This small group setting will works with young women on arts, bringing in STEAM focused learning, interwoven with leadership, empowerment, and confidence-building curriculum. Joyful, positive interaction, sisterhood, and cooperation are emphasized, while fostering a love of art and science with experience-based and hand-ons activities. I will run this program, with guest visitors and colleagues in various areas of expertise. We will also visit locations downtown throughout the week on walking trips. The social-emotional curriculum pulls from a number of resources, such as Smart Girls at the Party, Girls Inc. and Free Spirit. Participants must be able to attend all 6 days.
From "Smart Girls at the Party" - Founded by artist Amy Poehler and producer Meredith Walker, Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls organization is dedicated to helping young people cultivate their authentic selves.
